Overview

This one-hour presentation, geared towards management and other key customer staff, exists for the purpose of showing the importance of an effective software management program, as well as to bring about an understanding of what the eSDx solutions and eSDx Management methods can do to institute just such a program.
This session discusses the advantages of software management, followed by a presentation on the features and important characteristics of the eSDx product. Also covered are potential considerations for the implementation of software management using eSDx along with a synopsis of other training offered by OlySoft.



Planning and Implementing Software Management

The objective of this one-day class is to prepare the customer staff that will be participating in the implementation of eSDx for the work involved. It covers the following topics.
      Major considerations for implementation
      Overview of the eSDx logical and physical architecture
      Implementation options available with eSDx
      About eSDx servers, what they do, and the equipment needed
     Obtaining information required for software management
      The value of a Pilot Rollout and how to plan and execute it
      Planning for and implementing software management across the company
      Following implementation (ongoing support)
It also provides an overview of the next two courses so that proper planning can be done to take best advantage of them.

Administering eSDx

The objective of this two-day class is to prepare the customer staff that will be administering eSDx for the tasks that they will be responsible for. It covers the following topics.
       Functions of and navigating the eSDx administrative interface
       Policy considerations and how they are defined in eSDx
       Software packages and how they are input to and defined in eSDx
       Server and client computer configurations and how they are defined in eSDx
      Push/pull software distribution methods and how they are initiated
       Scheduling, synchronizing, and reporting software distribution
       Collecting and reporting software licensing information
       Reporting computer configuration information
       Standard reports and ad hoc reporting

Packaging Applications for eSDx

The objective of this one-day class is to prepare the customer staff that will be packaging applications for inclusion in eSDx for subsequent distribution for the tasks that they will be responsible for. It covers the following topics.
      Functions of and navigating the eSDx application build interface
      Application packaging considerations and how they are defined to eSDx
      Interfacing the eSDx build process from an application configuration management tool
     Interfacing the eSDx build process without using an application configuration
        management tool
      Verifying that an application has been properly packaged for input to eSDx
      Considerations for packaging an application update
      Backing out an application or update package from eSDx
      Obtaining eSDx reports about an application and its distribution status
