SharePoint Solution Implementation:

SharePoint solutions are built by either using the free Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) or using commercial implementations of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS)
WSS has a cost advantage (free) but is limited in certain areas of function. It is used in small scale SharePoint implementations.
MOSS has a cost but is ideal for situations that demand more complex types of functionality or larger SharePoint user bases.
